Getting it right the first time

Below are major projects that are either finished or under construction. Projects that will make our lives that much more pleasurable.

T5    Heathrow's Terminal 5 is under construction, on schedule and on budget and is due to open in April 2008. Currently the largest construction project in the World and well worth a visit to their site.

CTRL    Channel Tunnel Rail Link - Visit the site and click on the various project numbers to see the progress of this important project that will have some effect on all of our lives.

There are several nations developing the use of Magnetic Levitation (maglev) on high speed railway systems. Below are a sample of such projects.

Transrapid    Transrapid International GmbH is developing Shanghai's maglev train. The site shows a video of the train performing. 

Japan    Progress with maglev trains at the Japanese Railway Technical Research Institute. The train set up a world record for commercial rail applications on 2nd December 2003 achieving 581km/h (361m/h).

USA    Technical reports on noise, vibration and electromagnetic fields are at the US Department of Transportation's Volpe Centre
